I hoe you all are having a fantastic weekend! DH and I sure are! We just got back from the apartment in MD. Everything is packed up, and we brought 2 carloads of "essentials" back to NJ with us so that we can live in the house right after closing. Then, that following weekend we'll do the UHaul dance and move in the rest of the stuff.
I was really dreading packing. The last time I packed (please, take a moment to reflect on my posts a year ago when I was moving from PA to MD), it was dreadful. Night after night after night, box after box after box. This time, we decided to appraoch things differently. My mom, dad, matthew and I all headed down to MD on Friday. On Saturday, we each grabbed a room and got to it. We packed from 11 until 3:30 straight and did the entire apartment. I honestly couldnt believe my eyes. It was actually fun! Not one tear was shed!
When we moved from PA to MD, we had about 75 boxes. The final count this weekend was 46. 46?!?!?! Aren't you supposed to accumulate more crap as time goes on? Yes, I thought so too. Not that I'm complaining. We only had about 4 big bags full of trash too (apposed to the 18 I threw out when we moved from PA). I guess I shouldn't be questioning this miracle. Less boxes means left lifting. It also means less crap.
We had the same amount of book boxes and I had more knitting boxes. That can only mean one thing. I really am crazy about reading and knitting and I have lost my affinity for collecting crap that I don't need. I am ok with this.
As we get closer to closing on the house, I am becoming more and more excited. The more I think about the house, the happier I get! It is so warm and cozy, and it already feels like a home. I'm so proud that Matt and I are able to buy a house, and we found one that is PERFECT for us. The more we see it, the more we explore the area, the more I love it. I love the purple shutters, the wood paneling and the pergo floors. I love the deck, the pond, the hills and the trees. I love the cute little mossy brick stairs on the side of the house. I love the patio, the fireplace, the oven/stove, and the fridge. I STILL LOVE THAT TUB! I love the sliding doors, and the sounds that the frogs make at the pond.
I love the fact that we're going to be proud to invite our friends over. I love that Thanksgiving is now going to be at our house!!
Knitting news:::
I'm almost done with the shawl that I've been working on for the past... oh what is it now??? 6 months? I'm going easy on myself. We commute (round trip) close to 2 and 1/2 hours a day. To give you an idea on how hard we've been working - this week I clocked close to 50 hours. I've been busy. I can't wait to walk into my new house, take out a folding chair, sit on the deck and read or knit. Thats what I think about when the kids are screaming, I miss my hubby, and I have a headache. Pretty soon I'll be in the best brown and purple house in the universe with my knitting, my cats, and my husband!
It just doesnt get any better than that, folks.
Have a happy weekend!
