The Poop Strike.

This story has been brought to you by Thaya's Mommy.  If you don't want to read about poop, then close your browser.  Only poop talk beyond this point!

It is amazing how important poop can become.

Thaya has been pooping 3-4 times a day around the same time every day, for about 5 weeks.  From her birth to about 6 weeks ago, she was pooping after (or during) every feeding.  I mean, obviously she isn't going to be going off to college with 3-4 seedy poops a day.  It has to change at some point, right?  Well, that time is now, and I feel completely out of sorts.

Everything was fine on Saturday, until Thaya started her poop strike.

Sunday, I remember thinking, "man, she is going to explode tomorrow, she hasn't pooped in almost 24 hours!".  Monday came and went poop free.  I was getting nervous.  I called the doctor and he calmed me down a bit.  He reminded me that babies change, and so does their regularity.  "Ok", I said, agreeing with him that she'll probably explode on Tuesday.  I decided to try to help the poop along, regardless.  We went to the store and got some prune juice.  I know if I "up" my fiber, it will affect her.  I had 8 oz Monday night, 8 oz Tuesday morning, and another 8 oz Tuesday night (that's right, 24oz in 24 hours.  The lengths we go to for our children).  During this time, I was also doing exercises with her to help it along.  Well, no explosion Tuesday, or even Wednesday for that matter.  Just a lot of gas.  It was like looking for a diamond and getting a crystal.  Still pretty, but not what you really want (did I just compare my child's poop to a diamond??  I told you I've been crazy about this).

By Wednesday I was getting a little hysterical about it.  Whenever I would put her down, she would start screaming (this child rarely cries.  Usually just whimpers and whines), and when I would pick her up she would go sort of limp and just lay on me, listless.  I called the doctor.  He said give her a suppository, it has been too long with no poop.  So, I called in reinforcements.  My mom, dad, and DH all came to my rescue.  about 20 minutes after the suppository, she went, but it was like pudding and it wasn't seedy.  It also wasn't  enough.

So, yesterday we went to see him.  Call me crazy, but we're  leaving for Myrtle Beach today, and I'm not about to pick up and go to South Carolina without a green light from Dr. B.  After a full exam (Thaya is up to 12lbs, 2oz!!) he told us that 1) there is/was a blockage 2) giveher the suppository if she goes 3 days with no poop 3) it could take up to 2 weeks to work itself out and 4) this may be a sign she is ready for food.

Wait, what?!?!

3 more days of pears and then we'll try sweet potatoes!  What foods did your babies like when they first started food?

By the way, Thaya has a new favorite song!  Baby Baluga, by Mommy (that's me!).  She also likes to hear Raffi sing it.  I have a video, but seeing as I've already posted 3, I'll let Thaya post that video next week.

Have a great week!

Here are two new videos for you to enjoy!  The first one is of me talking up a storm.  The second is of me in my new bouncy seat.  Mommy and Granny got it for me for school.  I love it!

Another Check-up

Last Wednesday I have my 2 month check-up!  I got 3 shots, which was not so cool, but I also heard how well I'm growing.  I am now...

10 lbs 6 oz
22 in

and my head is 15"!

At birth I was 6 lbs, 19.25 in and my head was 13.  So, I'm gaining weight, gaining inches, and my brain is growing too!  All these brains are making my head really heavy.  I'm working hard on lifting it up though!!

Sorry it is so blurry, I'm still doing a little bit of the bobble head, so Mommy can't get a crisp picture without the flash.  I'd rather have the blurry photo - the flash hurts my eyes!

And, mommy took another movie of me.  I've been spending a lot of time on my tummy to make my neck and back nice and strong.  Here's a little clip of me in action!  At this point, I'd been holding my head up for about 5 minutes.  I went for about 10 minutes more after this, and then started crying when my mommy said it was time to stop!  I wanted to keep going, but she was right, I was really tired.

Proof!

Just proving to you that I don't sleep all the time and I am babbling and cooing now!  (warning, the video is about a minute long!)  I had a lot to say to my Nana when she and Grandpa visited this weekend.  I haven't talked to Grandpa yet, but I'm having more and more to say, so I'm sure I'll be talking up a storm when I see him again in two weeks!

I'm sure the next video on this site will be of me screaming and crying, because no one believes that I can!

And, by the way, Happy Father's Day, Daddy!  I love you :)

Guess What!

I have a new friend!  She's really nice, I love it when I get to see her.  Usually I see her when Mommy or Daddy puts me on my Tummy-Time mat.  Sometimes I see her when Mommy takes me into the bathroom with her to wash her hands.  What is she doing hanging out over the sink!?!  Once in awhile I notice her when we get into the car to go someplace.  Here, take a look!  My new friend and I love to smile at each other...

My Mommy has been trying hard to get a good shot of us talking to one another, but she always waits too long with the camera.

Img_1194 This weekend Daddy and I had some extra cuddle time.  It was so nice to snuggle into him.  I hope I get some more this weekend!

By the way, Saturday is an exciting day for me.  My Nana and Grandpa are coming to visit!  I'm so excited.  I was able to see Nana about 2.5 weeks ago, but I missed Grandpa.  He's coming the day after tomorrow!  I can't wait, they are GREAT at cuddling too.  It must run in the family :)

Another milestone

Well, I've reached another milestone!  When I was at the doctor's office two weeks ago, I almost flipped over on the table.  Dr. B said I would be doing it regularly in about a month.  Well, I am continuing to amaze everyone!  Two weeks later, I can flip from my tummy to my back like a pro!

I did it about 5 or 6 times.  Finally my mommy and daddy got the hint and went to get the camera.  Here I am in action!

It was the last time I did it for the day.  I am pooped!  I'm off to take a nap...

My goodness!

All of the people in my family are SO funny!  I've been awake a lot more, and in the morning I just love to smile!  I can't get over how silly my family is.  I bet I'll grow up to be just like them :)

Check-up

Img_0057 I had my second doctors appointment yesterday.  These appointments are not very fun, they poke me, pull me, and shine lights in my ears and eyes.  Yesterday was the worst so far - I ended up getting my second Hep B vaccine.  Not. Fun. At. All.

What was fun was finding out how much I have grown.  Mommy and Daddy couldn't believe how much I had grown at my second week appointment.  We were all on the edge of our seats for this appointment.

Last appointment, I was:

6 lbs 8 oz
19.5 inches long

This appointment, I was:

8lbs 12 oz
21.25 inches long

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!  We couldn't either.  No wonder I am out growing all of my newborn clothes!  Mommy must be doing a good job of feeding me...

I'm supposed to be doing this right now, so I'd better go.  Don't forget to leave me a comment to let me know you stopped by!!

I've been busy!

Img_0953 Img_0980Img_0988Last weekend I took a  met lots of people in my family.  I met my Uncles, Roger, Mike, and Nate.  I also met some of my cousinstrip to MD - my first big trip!  I  from CA, and Gigi - my great-grandmother.  I was also able to welcome Aunt Jackie to the family! We had such a fantastic time, but it was a little scary being in a new place for the first time.  Mommy and Daddy ddid a good job of making me feel safe.

Img_0998 After we got home from MD, I had a lot of things to get caught up on.  First, I needed to take my first real bath.   I started out in the bath seat (you can see a little bit of it in the picture), but I'm still too tiny for it, so I was sliding all over the place.  Mommy decided it would be better just to hold me in the water.  What a great idea!  While mommy held me, daddy soaped me up and rinsed me off.  They did a great job, I smelled great afterwards!  I really liked laying in the water.  Mommy held my head and let my body float around... she moved me back and forth through the warm water.  I couldn't help but kick my legs and smile!

Img_1012 I also had to hang out with daddy for a little bit when we got home.   I know it is obvious from this picture - but really I love him SO MUCH!  He is so much fun.  Whenever I am with him, I can't help but smile.  Sometimes I really want to laugh out loud, but I'm not sure how to make the noise just yet, so I just breath really heavy instead.  I'm so lucky to have such a COOL dad!

Img_1041 My Godmother, Giovanna, came over this past weekend.  She is SO nice, I love her already!  She held me and rocked me and talked to me for a really long time.  I can't wait until she comes back again!  On Mother's Day, Daddy asked Mommy what she wanted to do, and Mommy said she wanted to take a trip to the beach!  So, that is where we spent Mother's Day.  Img_1046I know Mommy had a great time.  Our first stop was the Chowda Hut - Mommy Img_1050and Daddy love their soup!  After that, we walked to the bay, went to one of Mommy's favorite shops, and tImg_1053hen walked along the beach.  We had a fantastic, laid back day.  I spent most of the time snuggled up sleeping.  It didn't matter if I was cuddled with Mommy or Daddy - I was comfy!!   Daddy and I also gave Mommy two books - the new Yarn Harlot book and Sarah Dallas Knitting.  She loves both of them! Daddy also gave Mommy a diaper-free day!!

I have one more piece of important news.  Mommy and Daddy have been giving me my daily dose of tummy-time, and I'm getting strong!  Last night and this afternoon I lifted my head and did some mini-push-ups.  Then, this afternoon (right after I lifted my head) I rolled over from my tummy to my back!!  I must been doing a good job eating and working on my muscles, I'm turning into one strong baby!  Look, I even have proof!
