I'm so glad that my girls have had an opportunity to spend time with their Gigi. I have so many fond memories of her from when I was their age. She would spend the summers with us, helping my mom, playing with me, but mainly quilting. She would let me help her, and I felt... important. I'd like to believe that she had a hand in my desire to be an artist and to continually create. Every time I knit, my mind wanders to her. I hope some day my girls have the same tendency.
She has always been so good with kids, and just because she is... well... old, it doesn't mean she's lost her touch. I said to her once, "Gram, the girls sure do love you", and she said, "well, they can tell who likes children, you know. They gravitate towards them". It is so true, and you would have to be really thick to miss how much my Gram loves kids. The last time we saw her, going through in my head the different moments... it was just so sweet to have them together.
When I see her now, I can't help but wonder if it will be my last visit. I really try to let the moments just saturate my being and take as many pictures as I can.
We had a great trip, and I'm so glad we got to see Gigi :)
