little angel

Starting to go back through our gazillions of pictures to make a book of Thaya's first year. I'm hoping to get it done before #2 arrives in September. I'd like to have a milestone page for each month followed by a couple of pages highlighting some of the things we did with her during that month. We'll see if that actually happens :)
One more thing, have any of you ever heard of the Buddha Board?!
Well, all my mommy friends (and non-mommy friends alike), this is something YOU HAVE TO BUY for your child. Thaya is seriously obsessed with hers, it just isn't getting old.
The Buddha Board is a "wet-stone" like board. It isn't really stone though - it is probably just treated cardboard or something. Anyway, it comes in a little laptop-like case. You open it up, and the case doubles as a stand (v. cool). There is a little trough at the bottom of the holder that doubles as a place to store the brush and pour in water. Once the brush is wet, you can write/scribble/draw all over the board and the board darkens in the areas that get wet.
But that isn't even the best part. The best part is, in like 10 minutes the whole thing will evaporate and be back to where you started so you can do it all over again!
Trust me, BUY THIS BOARD. Thaya will play with it for about 20 minutes at a time. She is, however, very interested in writing, and has been drawing/coloring on her easel and on pads of paper for almost 2 months now.
I don't know if it is my PreK teacher background/ M.Ed. coming through, but this board is seriously a must-have for emergent readers/writers. Just make sure you have a camera ready to document their beautiful master pieces because it is short lived. I can't wait to have a series of pictures showing her as she gets older and older using the board and watching the progression of her skills. SO COOL!
I'll try to upload some of the pictures of it for you guys. It comes in a bunch of hot colors - we went with red. Thanks Granna, our little artist LOVES it!

That board is a great idea. I'll have to check into it. Nice page. My labor was about 60 hours, and I have an M.Ed too. We seem to have a lot in common.

I've seen those boards but didn't think of it as a baby thing until just now. We'll have to try it out!
The page is beautiful. You are really on a roll and I bet you can get it done by September.

Okay, okay - I give in! I have to try digital scrapbooking too! :) So, tell us how you got started? I am Googling away but it seems kind of complicated. I love your idea for Thaya's first-year book...I am a little obsessed with making memory books of all sorts. Of course that means I am working on no less than five for Nathan and, um, none are remotely close to being finished!
Now a Buddha Board is most definitely coming to live at our house - maybe a first birthday present? I cannot wait for those first works of art!
