A Wonderful Weekend

We really had a fantastic weekend.  We celebrated Thaya's 1st birthday on Saturday by having some family and friends over for the occasion.  Above you can see a picture of the duck cake that I made for her.  Now I know why people just buy cakes.  Once I got the hang of the icing, it went pretty quick, but it was a bit of a time crunch.

Believe it or not, Thaya doesn't have much of a sweet tooth!  She wasn't really that into eating it, more just squishing her fingers through it.  She also doesn't like to get dirty.  The only reason why she smeared it all over her face is because everyone was egging her on.  She was very happy to be cleaned up.

Thaya got a bunch of really fantastic gifts, and I was really blown away by everyone's generosity!  Among her favorites are soft blocks, books, a duck pull toy, her new sandbox, mini picnic table, easel, and slide.  Of course she also loves the puzzles, the tree swing, duck stuffed animals, and clothes as well.

Ok, she loves everything!

On Sunday (her actual birthday) we had a quiet day at home.  The family started to trickle out, and we basically stayed in our PJs and recovered from all the excitement.  Matt has been working a lot of overtime, so it was nice for us to just have a day to ourselves.

I also had the "big u/s" on Friday!  We're having another girl!  We are so excited, we can't stand it.  We've decided to keep one nursery and when baby girl #2 is ready for it, we'll move Thaya into a "big girl" room.  I already have ideas in mind - but that is for another post!

So, here are some ideas for names.  Let me know what you think!

Aubrie Therese (Brie)
Lily Grace
Maisie Elise
Elodie Grace (Elle or Ellie)

Enjoy the pictures!

OHHH how exciting! Happy Birthday Thaya! Congratulations Mommy and Daddy, and Happy Mother's Day! PS - I vote Lily Grace!

Happy Birthday Thaya!

Do you know how wonderful your Mom is? I mean, just look at the love she put into your very cool cake!

I'm so glad you are having another girl! How fun!

Beautiful pictures as always.

Elodie! Ellie is such a cute name for a little girl. I really love Aubrie too.

Thaya looks more like you as time goes on!

Happy Birthday Thaya! What a gorgeous little one year old.
All the names you have picked are beautiful but I like Elodie best. Its unusual and pretty.

Oh my, so much exciting stuff all in one post! First of all, a big huge (belated) happy birthday to sweet Thaya! I wish we could have come to celebrate it with you. The cake turned out amazing, and I bet you will love looking back on having made it yourself (not that there is anything wrong with "outsourcing").

And then - another girl!!! I love my sis to bits (as you know!) so I am already so excited for Thaya, thinking of her having a little sister. Okay, so all four of your names - seriously - are awesome. And Thaya Rose is one tough act to follow in the naming perfection department. In my first grade class there was a really nice little girl named Elodie, which I always thought was a great name that you don't see hardly ever. I've always liked Aubrey (and I like your spelling even better), and Lily was often my doll's name growing up. My husband has a little cousin named Maisie who's an incredible little girl. In short, I am NO help!

Wow, I can't believe she is a year old already! I remember when she was still in your tummy! And you are pregnant again? I haven't stopped by in a while but obviously I missed a lot! I have to say that I love Maisie.

Congratulations to Thaya for the big birthday and to you and Matt for the big news!

I love all the names though I'm partial to the last--its very original and almost melodic!

Wow that is one impressive cake! My daughter didn't eat any cake on her first birthday either.

Congrats on another girl! I would already be planning all the matching outfits if I were you! Oh, and I like Elodie Grace, but they are all beautiful names.

Ooooo I like Lily Grace a lot!!!

Beautiful pictures. The cake, and kid, turned out well.

Good job you two.

Happy `st Birthday Thaya. She is such a cute little girl. I really like the first name, although I have never heard of it before. I love the name Grace, as I wanted to name Isabelle that but Paul wouldnt agree.
