It's Fall!

All of the post around Blogland have a similar feel - it is finally feeling like fall, which means everyone finally feels like knitting.  I mean, of course we've all been knitting, but now we can REALLY knit.  You know as in knit, finish, wear type knitting.  For instance, last night I knit, this morning I finished, and today...

Thaya wore it :)  I used the Reversible Knit Halloweenie Beanie by Crazy Aunt Purl.  The only orange yarn I had was Manos Del Urugay, so the pattern came out looking a little different than the example on her blog.  Also, I obviously tweeked the pattern so that it would fit my munchin.  Basically I cast on 50 stitches using size US 10 circular needles.  I joined in the round and then knit 9 purl 1 my way around.  After about 5 inches I started decreasing by  p2tog where I would have otherwise purled.  I did this until there were 3 stitches left and then I weaved the yarn through those stitches.  I found three things out when i was done.  1)  I should have knit for another inch or so before I decreased, but I didn't have an entire ball and I was afraid I was going to run out.  2) this would have been super cute as a roll
brimmed hat, but I would have knit for... oh... like 3 more inches.  Definitely didn't have enough yarn.  3) The hat isn't exactly "reversible" with this yarn.  No big deal, I like it as it is :)

In other knitting news, I started making Thaya a kitty hat for Halloween.  I'm really not happy with how it is turning out (it looks more helmet than hat), so I cast-on for the Hello Yarn Top-Down Bonnet.  I think it will be more... petite.  It may not really look cat-like, but that is ok too.  If worse comes to worse, munchin will be wearing her pumpkin hat and orange.

And, in other news, Thaya has her first tooth :)  It is so cute.  Sharp, but cute.  I'd put a picture up, but have you ever tried taking a picture of a tiny-bottom-front tooth on a drooling baby who loves to lick?  Not.Easy.  We're also going to try some pumpkin with her tonight.  I'm looking forward to making it for her, I'm pretty certain she is going to love it.  If it is orange and buttery, she loves it!

By the way, Friday I'm going to see The Harlot.  HURRAY!  I have a sweater that I'm going to try to finish in time.  You go to events like that and you have to 1) be knitting something and/or wear something you knit.  It's a pride thing.  I mean, after all, you never know who you may run into.

Hope you all had a nice fall! Happy Knitting :)

Have fun seeing the harlot! She's great! I met some really cool people when I went to her book signing, everyone was knitting so be sure to bring a little something mindless to work on!

By the way, Thaya is so cute in that hat!

Meg she looks so much like you! And she looks super cute in that hat.

Hi,

Your belly and your baby are beautiful.

Would you mind e-mailing the name of that pretty white yarn please.

I got here clicking on your name on Stephanie Mc 's site. I'm glad I clicked.

Cute hat. She is getting SO big!

Thaya looks like you!!! wow!

Love Thaya's hat! She's so pretty.

It's funny because I'm knitting up a storm on a hat for Kylie. I can't believe that I don't have a single knitted hat for her and it's October. Yikes! I thought about buying her one but my knitter's pride won't allow it.

Too cool that Thaya has a tooth!

Have fun seeing the Harlot!

What a cute hat. Your daughter looks so cute in it too. The kitty hat sounds cute too. My son used to love mashed pumpkin as a baby mixed with corn and blended together. He is 13 yrs old now and wont eat either of them. Funny how our food tastes change.

What a great hat. Wow, I can't believe how big Thaya is getting! Jeepers!
