Come Together...

Well, we've made even more progress.  I'm so excited.  I can't tell you how many times I started crying while we were working on the room.  I would just look at the room, get an overwhelming feeling of warmth, and then cry out "oooooh, Hunk!" Every time. Ok, I admit, maybe not everytime.  There was one time that we were a little snappy at eachother while trying to get the curtain rod level.  But every other time it was, "ooooh, Hunk!" and he would just look at me, smile and laugh, and hug me.

So, to my friends and family... consider this your warning.  The pictures that you are about to see will evoke intense feelings of pleasure.  Go get your Kleenex!

Img_0323_1 Img_0324These two pictures are what the room looks like so far with the curtains back behind the holdbacks.  So cute!  It is a really tiny room, I was afraid that the curtains

would make the room feel smaller, but It doesnt feel that way at all.  I think that they actually make the room feel a little larger, especially since the curtains almost touch the ground.  As you can see below, the room looks adorable with the curatains closed too!  It lets in the perfect amount of light during the day!Img_0325
Img_0327So, I love the curtains opened, and I love them closed!  We really lucked out, they are having a sale at Linens 'N' Things, and the curtains were all on sale.  We've got 4

panels on each window, so I don't think we could have gotten them if it weren't for the sale.  We were going to put a rod over the closet too, but unfortuantely I think the closet is too close to the window for it to look right.  So, since we have another set of holdback, we're going to put them on top of the closet frame and go back to Linens 'N' Things for a long scarf to drape around the frame.  Adorable!

Img_0326 I love the crib, and I really like the drawers next to it.  We're not going to use that light in the room though... hopefully someone will buy the cute one off of my registry!

So, the To Do list now consists of:

Sand and paint trim
Put up shelves
Buy changing table
Hang pictures
Buy new outlet covers
Buy new light switch
Buy 2 small tables
Lamps
Mattress (crib and co-sleeper)
Put in over head light
Buy rug
Pick up glider
Window treatments

Img_0318Img_0319 Its really coming together... all of this for our growing little sweet pea!

Belly Pictures: This is from 26 weeks and 3 days.

I've started another little sweater with some more RYC Cashsoft DK in Sweet.  I love how this stuff knits up!
Of course the color is really off in this picture, but I don't feel like fiddling with it.

So, I'll keep you updated as the room progresses, the knitting progresses, and the baby progresses!

Happy Knitting!

She's getting bigger!!

Here she is, our little munchkin!
Thaya_rose_24_weeks
She weighed 1 lb and 8 oz at the ultrasound... I bet she is already to 2 pounds now.  It seems like she got much bigger, just overnight.  This morning when I woke up, I could feel her under my ribs - that is a first for me... usually she is very very low.

I love the last picture in this series.  I know that she can't actually be yawning, seeing how she isn't breathing, but it is just too cute, I can't take it.  I think she has DH's eyes and my chubby little cheeks.  Again, this is really rediculous, but I can pretend!

I love our little Thaya Rose!

I'm Tired...

This was a long week for me.  I was sick in the beginning of the week, the middle, and the end of the week.  I started feeling better on Friday, then Saturday I had an aweful headache and heartburn (please, read acid reflux) and a hard time breathing.  Today I was congested again, but no headache or heartburn.  Maybe this one has something to do with it...

At 25 weeks and 3 days, baby is starting to get a little cramped in there.  She is still moving like crazy, which is unfortunate for various "insides" of mine.  This includes the bladder, my lungs, and aparantly my esophagus.  But, I'm pretty certain it is worth it.

Img_0297
Here are 2 bonnets for our little girl!  The one on the left is the bonnet I'm working on to with the christening gown I am going to make.  That will be completed by (hopefully) her christening!  The beanie on the left is from Itty Bitty Hats.  I used some of the spare yarn I had from the Debbie Bliss blanket.  I have a lot of that yarn left so I'm thinking I'll also make a newborn sweater and some booties, all in seed stitch.Img_0292_1  I don't know why, I just LOVE how the yarn falls with that stitch.

I finished this little wonder today.  It is the most irresistable soft you will ever touch.  I have a ball and a half of it left.  Guess its time for hat and booties!

I recommend this book, this yarn, and this pattern.  I absolutly love it.  I'm not crazy about the buttons, but it was all that I had and I wanted to see what it looked liked finished.  I think I may get some of those fun and colorful clay ones, maybe with butterflies or something!

In other news, the baby room is really coming along.

We sanded and sanded and sanded (by we, I mean my DH).  We then taped and taped and taped.  Then, we mixed the paint and started applying.  As you can see, one coat wasn't enough.  We finished our second coat this morning, and will probably do a third coat tonight.  It really pulls the room together!

Img_0279

Last but not least, I'm trying to get together something to hang over her crib.  So far I like this
Img_0294
I think that I'll paint the letters green.  I'm also going to try to find a braided chenille rug like the one in the picture in green.  Its going to look great with the pink!

So, I need to pick another knitting project... I'm still not over the baby kick, so you'll have to bear with me at least another week or so!

Could it be TOO cute?

The cute factor jumped up a notch this weekend, that's for sure.
Img_0249_1 We worked on the polka dots last night, putting them on the one short wall and in the closet.  We decided that since the room is so small, that if we put them in the entire room, it would make the close in.  So, the back wall and closet it is!

Our next big task is the trim.  We've decided to paint is the same color as the polka dots and the ceiling.  The only problem is, the trim is glossy and the paint won't stick, as explained in my previous post.  So, we need to sand all the trim first.  That will be next weekend's project.

Img_0254
Once the trim is finished, we'll be able to move the chest of drawers back in, which will be housed in the closet.  We're going to keep the doors off of the closet and hang pillowy fluffy curtains on the outside.  I think I'll make them myself - I'm convinced this room can look designer on a budget.  So far, so good!

We'll also be able to push the crib up against the wall and put the bedding together.  We've got her name in wooden blocks to paint.  Green is the accent, I'm not sure if I want to paint them in the color of the dots or in green.  Then I have cute little fairy/angels holding flowers to hang next to her name.

Our to to do list:
Sand and paint trim
Put up shelves
Buy changing table
Hang pictures
Buy new outlet covers
Buy new light switch
Lattice?
Buy 2 small tables
Lamps
Mattress (crib and co-sleeper)
Put in over head light
Window treatments

Once the finishing touches are in, I think that I will add a few more polka dots.  I think I'll put them near the outlets, shelves, light switch, etc.  Overall, I am thrilled with how the room is turning out.  My goal was to have it finished by president's day.  There is a lot more to do, but I think we'll still be able to meet that goal!

Img_0261 And, with much pleasure, I present another finished object!

Pretty in Pink

First things first, belly pic!
Here I am at 24 weeks and 2 days.
Img_0229 No stretch marks yet! I'm keeping my fingers crossed.  She is very active, and DH and I are very happy that it is so obvious now when she is moving around.  He is really excited to be able to feel her.  His favorite thing to do is rest his face on my belly.  He'll just lay there talking to her while she kicks.  Its very sweet.

So, of course it's been baby mania in our house.  Baby knitting, registry updating, and nursery painting have been taking up our time.  I've been slowly trudging along on the baby blanket that I was working on over Christmas.  I really only work on it a couple times a week on my lunch break.

Img_0247Regardless, I've finished the blanket and I'm now working on knitting the hood.  The yarn is so soft, and I love the color.  I'm looking forward sewing it up.  I'm still thinking about putting her initials on it, but I'm not sure how just yet.

I also recieved some knitting books and yarn in the mail yesterday.  I freaked out, I was so excited.  Unfortunately, the hormonal waves or pregnancy were also pretty stormy yesterday.  I simultaneously started crashing from exhaustion.  So, I just started crying about how I wanted to be more fun but I was just too tired.  Anyway, I got Dale of Norway books #142, #164, and #135.  I also ordered some Stork in Natural to start a baptism gown (found in book 142) for Thaya. I'm really excited about starting it, but I want to finish the blanket first.  I have a few other projects going on and I really don't want to start this one until I finish some other up.  This is really an "at home" knit,  so I have to clear the boards a little bit!

Well, other than knitting, I've been paiting.Img_0234
We had a couple color choices, we ended up deciding on a color called Cupcake, with polka dots in Pressed Powder. I know it is going to look adorable.  Right now our main concern is the trim.  I was convinced that the trim needed to be sanded before we applied the paint.  To me, there just seemed to be no chance in hell that the paint would stick to a glossy finish.  Well, we go to the paint store, and the employee there (who shall remain nameless) assured us that we would not need to sand.  Well of course we do a sample spot (you can see it in that picture up there) and it rubs right off.  So now, we have to sand.  Thanks for giving me a false sense of releif, employee X.

So, after our 90% of prep work, we got on to our 10% of painting work.  Img_0241_1 I love how the paint looks in the natureal light.  Tonight we are going to pull off the tape, put tape up around the top, and tomorrow we'll paint the ceiling and add the polka dots.  We're going to do the polka dots, trim, and ceiling in the same color.  You can see it here in Img_0237 this pictures of our sample square.  Well, actually in that pictures the dots look the color that the walls used to be.  Its really a light pink.  Light is so funny, it can make pink look like yellow.

So, now we are trying to decide if we want to do the big dots everywhere, or if we want to do all different sized dots.  We've been looking in my baby knits books and on websites to get some ideas.  I dont know, I like the big, I like the small.... it's hard to decide.

Img_0244_1 Either way, Thaya better like pink as much as we do!
