Yuck

I have *another* sinus infection, an aweful cough, achey muscles - and as if this wasnt enough, I've got conjunctivitis as well.

Yea, I know pink eye is the same thing, but conjunctivitis sounds so much more serious (it really is a pain, I'm not being a baby).

Oh yea, knitting...

I'm almost done with the second sock and I'm planning on finishing the snowdrop shawl as well.  Nothing like a day off, being sick, and needing to knit.

Oh, funny story. I had to leave work early yesterday because I was feeling so sick.  On his way home from work matt called me and said "did you nap?" i said, "well, i didnt nap but I have been resting."  There was a pause and then Matt said, "and by resting you meaning sitting in bed, watching TV, and Knitting?"  and i said...

"well, yea."

Delayed - Superbowl XL

We made a special trip to Westfield to visit my mom and dad for superbowl Sunday.  Little did my dad and husband know that my mom and I had secret arrangements.  DH and I would arrive the night before.  We told DH that we were going early so we could make it into a whole big fun weekend trip and have a game night on Saturday.  Little did he know that the real reason was so that my mom and I could wake up early and make it to the yarn sale at her LYS.

Well, about a week before the big day (you must realize I'm talking about "big" in the yarn way, not in the "football" way) I broke it to DH that we were going to be going to a yarn sale on Sunday morning.

His response, "I KNEW it, I KNEW this had to be about yarn.  I just KNEW IT!"  Well good then.  He must have come to terms with it!

My mom and I did some serious shopping.  Lets review the booty:

Img_0229First off, I got a wicked cool magnet.  Right now I have a license plate frame that says "I'd rather be Knitting", with that in mind, I decided to stick this magnet on my refridgerator, not my car.  No reason to scare away the public (while driving) with my freakishly encompassing addiciton.

Next Up:

Img_02325 balls of Rowan Big Wool.  This has already been knitted up into a ribbed scarf and hat combo.  Only thing left to do is add a pompom on top.  So darn cute I can't even stand it.  Not only that, but I feel really clever because my friend and co-worker got a hat and scarf combo for christmas. I really liked how it looked and asked her if I could make the same thing with some wool I had.  Not only is she psyched that we can match, but she is also ampted that I can reproduce it if she wants something else!  Anyway, you can see the hat and scarf combo here:

I cast on... ooooh... maybe 21 stitches and worked a k1, p1 rib until it was long enough to wrap around my neck twice with some left to dangle.  I can also do that neat knotting trick with it.  I knit it up using size 17 needles on the scarf and size 15 needles with the hat.  I found the pattern for the hat at Mossy Cottage Knits - the same site that I got the pattern for the socks I've been working on.

Anyway, back to shopping.  I *really* wanted to do a pattern from Vintage Knits, so I found two types of yarn to use for it.
I may use one

Or the otherImg_0231

for the project.

So far I'm leaning towards the grey because its a little more "tweedy" if yah know what I mean.

Next up, Rowan Big Wool again in Img_0233
The most beautiful green I've ever laid eyes on.  I love this color. If I could, I would paint every room in my house this color and have accents in lavendar. I'm smitten with it, I can't get enough of it, every place I've ever lived has had at least one wall painted this color (despite how that landlord felt about it).  I like it, ok?!

And, to feed my never ending battle with lace (I can do it no problem, its the completing part I have a problem with) I got two beautiful skeins of Lorna's Laces lace weight :)

Img_0235Img_0234  I love them (I wish I was better at moving the pictures to the middle of the page... doesn't it get kinda boring always having them on the right?)

All of the yarn at the store was on sale for 20%, 30% and 40% off.  All bags, needles, notions, and books were 20% off.  At the end of the day, survey said:

Oh, by the way, did I mention we had a snow storm last weekend and lost power for a day?  It was fun regardless of the fact that it was 50 degrees in the house and we sat cuddled under blankets y the fire for warmth.  Least I got some knitting done!

Pulled Muscle and Broken Needles

Img_0224_1

A broken needle and a sock that is WAY to big later, I ended up with this:

Img_0226

The Winter Issue of Interweave Knits that I should have reieved in the mail and didn't, 3 pairs of needles (dammed if these socks were going to be the wrong size again!), and a sock that is looking much more my size.

Right now we're just about to pack up and head to my folks.  We're going to play some games tonight, I'm going to a big yarn sale tomorrow (yay!) and then we'll watch the superbowl (I'm going to knit through this one, I couldn't care less about the teams this year).  I want to finish these socks by tomorrow - I'm caught in a cycle of never ending WIPs.  I need to control myself.

So to clarify - last post I said my original post had poofed - it was not typepad that did it, it way my own slippery fingers and long nails that hit a bad combination of keys.

I love typepad and typepad has never done me wrong!

Enjoy the weekend, and thanks for stopping by!
